We have a MF Atlas milling machine which has been restored to better than new condition. All functions of mill work perfectly. The only workaround was the electric motor mount. An original was either bent cracked or priced as unabtainium. As we had a broken one as an example we decided to make one from bar stock. That mount works just like the original I all adjustments and operation.
The table was surface ground and has not been used since then. Headstock taper is number 2 Morris, all speed and feed control works as listed in what documents I could find. This machine was also refurbished by the Consolidated Aircraft retired tool and die maker and is an exceptional resulte. I've made some tooling but that's not a problem as the taper the most common.
This is the same type of milling machine which the late Rudy Kouhoupt made several DVDs about. In original add I said the parts were removed and replaced but I meant the parts were reinstalled after cleaning/painting not replaced. The machines have been setting unused for last 20 years. There is very light surface rust. Slight rub with steel wool and WD 40 and it disappears.
